T3 and Total Film to run LG augmented reality ad

LONDON - LG Electronics has teamed up with media group Future as part of its global partnership with 20th Century Fox to promote the launch of action movie 'Avatar' and its new LG Chocolate BL-40 widescreen mobile phone.

In a deal brokered by LG's media agency Mindshare, Future's technology and film magazines, T3 and Total Film, will feature an exclusive augmented reality gatefold ad in their December issues.

The six-page ad promotes the cinema-aspect screen of LG's Chocolate mobile phone using video images from James Cameron's 'Avatar' movie.

By holding the ad's augmented reality icon up to a webcam, readers can access a special Avatar trailer that plays on a user-controllable 3D rendering of LG's new handset.

As part of the campaign, users can visit a dedicated where they get a chance to win a VIP trip to the premiere of the film in London by uploading their own avatar.
