The acquisition is the first photography title in the Dennis portfolio and marks a move into a new sector for the company.
Digital SLR Photography, which launched in 2006, is billed as "the magazine by photographers for photographers" and provides photography product reviews, news and tips from professional photographers.
The magazine has an unaudited circulation of over 20,000 and is distributed through newsstands and subscriptions.
The current editorial and advertising team of eight, lead by editor and co-founder Daniel Lezano, will all be taken on as Dennis Publishing employees but will remain in their premises in Peterborough.
The team will report to John Garewal, deputy managing director of Dennis' technology division.
James Tye, chief executive at Dennis said: "The fast-growing SLR photography market represents an excellent opportunity for Dennis Publishing.
"Digital SLR Photography is superbly put together and is a compelling and entertaining read -- its high editorial standards convinced me that the magazine should be part of our portfolio."
Digital SLR Photography will accompany other titles in Dennis' technology range, including PC Pro, Computer Shopper, and iGizmo.
According to the latest ABC figures, Bauer's Digital Photo magazine leads circulation numbers with 70,000, followed by fellow Bauer title Practical Photography with 62,000, and Future Publishing's Digital Camera Magazine with 55,500.
