The title, which as yet has no confirmed launch date, is targeted to fit between Dennis' two existing car titles, Auto Express and Evo. Evo is a glossy monthly devoted to fast and desirable performance cars, while Auto Express is the market-leading weekly title.
The new magazine will compete in the solidly performing motoring sector against Emap's market leader, Max Power, and Haymarket's What Car?.
In this year's ABC results, circulations in the sector were up 2 per cent year on year with Dennis' Auto Express and Evo achieving 4.4 per cent and 10 per cent increases respectively.
Phil Parker, the group publishing director, automotive division, at Dennis Publishing, said: "The car magazine market is thriving. New car sales reached an all-time high in 2003 and it is clear that the public's appetite for buying cars, and reading magazines that advise them on what's new in the market, is constantly growing. In short, this is a perfect time for a leading publisher such as Dennis to look at new opportunities."
The proposed title follows Dennis' launch of a gambling magazine, Inside Edge, earlier this year.
