The A5 title launched in 2002 and was bought by Dennis in May 2003 as part of its acquisition of the I Feel Good publishing group.
Over the past three years, Dennis claims that the title has received more than £3 million in investment but, without a significant upturn in sales, it has opted to concentrate on its profitable magazines and on new projects. The August issue of Jack will be the last.
Alistair Ramsay, the chief executive of Dennis, said: "Men in the target market who discover Jack love it: we just can't find enough of them on the newsstand. We've got 10,000 subscribers and have enjoyed excellent support from our advertisers, but the newsstand landscape has got trickier in the past 12 months."
The title posted an ABC circulation figure of 39,052 last period but, in 15th position, it continued to trail behind the market-leading monthlies by up to 560,000.
The men's market has also seen increased competition over the past six months with the arrival of two weekly titles, IPC's Nuts and Emap's Zoo.
H Bauer is also close to launching a weekly title, called Cut, and has recruited Simon Geller, the former editor of Men's Health, to lead the initiative.
Kerin O'Connor, the deputy managing director of Dennis' consumer division, said: " Dennis' publishing investment grew circulation by 17 per cent over the past year. Unfortunately, Jack's publishing model simply isn't commercially viable."
