The awards, which are now in their seventh year, have been boosted by the addition of four new categories in all, including best research and insights project; two awards for best online ad sales team of the year (business and consumer); and best mobile site.
Last year the AOP attracted a 40% increase in entries from online publishers, from the biggest consumer brands to specialist business titles.
Ruth Brownlee, AOP director, said: "Our awards are designed to celebrate and recognise real innovation and creativity in the industry.
"We're delighted to play host to an event that attracts entries from such a high calibre of talented people and renowned media businesses."
Winners of the 2007 AOP Online Publishing Awards included the Telegraph team for consumer online publisher of the year; GazetteLive, published by Trinity Mirror, scooped best consumer website; Reed Business Information secured online publisher -- business and Cnet's ZDnet.co.uk won best business website.
The deadline for entries is July 25, and can be submitted electronically at the AOP website.
The winners will be announced at an Awards gala dinner held at the London Hilton, Park Lane on October 1, which follows the AOP's annual flagship Digital Publishing Summit held at the same venue during the day.
