Reed Business Information top winner at AOP awards

LONDON - Reed Business Information scooped the most gongs at last night's AOP Online Publishing Awards, including best online business publisher for the second year running.

The publisher claimed four awards in total at the event which included best business website for XpertHR.co.uk, best online community for business-to-business site Farmers Weekly Interactive, and best online business ad sales team for RBI e-Newsletters.

IPC Media also had a good night, taking home three awards for best cross-media project, best research and insight project and best consumer editorial team for nme.com.

The Financial Times and BSkyB each picked up the third most awards. BSkyB won two gongs for best online consumer publisher and best consumer website for Sky News. The FT won best innovation for Mocking Bird Model and best use of video for FT.com.

Ruth Brownlee, the outgoing director of AOP, said: "This year's winners have produced work that shows real creativity, smart use of technology and commercial acumen."

The awards, which were held at London's Hilton Park Lane, have been running since 2002.

The AOP also announced yesterday at its annual conference that it would split its chairman's role in two. Outgoing chairman Simon Waldman, group director of digital strategy and development at Guardian Media Group, handed over his duties to Alison Reay, digital media director at Telegraph Media Group, and Mike Seery, chief information officer at The Economist.
