Brownlee named new AOP chief

LONDON - Ruth Brownlee has taken over as director at internet trade body the Association of Online Publishers.

Brownlee named new AOP chief

Brownlee has been working as a strategy adviser at the AOP, dispensing advice to publishing players regarding their digital strategies. Prior to her role at the AOP, she worked at women’s portal Handbag.com, Yahoo! and Channel 4.

She takes over from Alex White, who left earlier this year to take up an online role at BBC Worldwide. White joined BBC Worldwide in September as new-launch director.

Simon Waldman, AOP chairman and group director of digital strategy and development at Guardian Media Group, said that the breadth of Brownlee’s online expertise led to her landing the job.

The AOP represents 160 online publishers from magazine and newspaper publishers, TV and radio firms and portals.
