LONDON - Simon Clift leaves Unilever, Owen van Natta parts company with MySpace and Alan Brydon moves up at MPG, as Brand Republic rounds up this week's industry moves in advertising, digital, marketing and media.

Digital

IDS has appointed Steven McHenry as a digital controller within its digital sales team, reporting to Stuart Flint, director of digital. He will be responsible for sales across IDS' digital portfolio, which includes Virginmedia.com, UKTV and VMtv's digital portfolios, and The Online Video Alliance. ()

Owen Van Natta, chief executive of the News Corporation-owned social networking site MySpace, has left the company less than a year after being hired from rivals Facebook. Van Natta is leaving the role immediately and is being indirectly replaced by the company's chief operating officer, Mike Jones, and chief product officer Jason Hirschorn. The pair will become MySpace co-presidents and will report to News Corporation's digital chief executive Jon Miller. ()

Federica Aperio, UK managing director of .Fox Networks, the UK online sales and ad network of Fox International Channels (FIC), has left the company after two years. The day-to-day running of the business will now be handled by Fox Networks sales director Francis Turner. ()

AOL has made a number of internal promotions in its senior UK sales team. Andrew Moore, head of trading, has been promoted to the position of head of agency sales. Toby Morris takes the role of head of premium sales, where he will be responsible for all AOL's network of more than 40 owned and operated sites. Robert Blake takes the role of head of performance sales, driving efficiency across the network. ()

Marketing

British Airways has hired Kerris Bright to the role of head of marketing, ending a year-long recruitment process. She will report to British Airways' sales and marketing director, Andrew Crawley. ()

Mobile manufacturer HTC has hired Vladimir Malugin, formerly head of products and marketing at Polaroid Consumer Electronics and head of market development at Eastman Kodak, as EMEA marketing director. The previous incumbent, Rui Antunes, left to explore other opportunities. ()

Alison Jones, marketing director at department store chain Debenhams is leaving the company to take a marketing position at the Arcadia Group. Jones, the daughter of David Jones, the former chairman of Next and JJB Sports, will take the position of group marketing director at Arcadia. ()

Unilever's chief marketing officer Simon Clift is to leave the FMCG giant after 30 years with the company, without a job to go to. A spokesman for Unilever said Clift's departure was completely amicable, "prompted by his desire to spend more time with his family in Brazil and to pursue other creative opportunities." ()

Media

Outdoor media owner JCDecaux has appointed former Forrest sales director James Power to the position of senior business development manager at its phone box media division StreetTalk, reporting to Lucinda Sharp, group head of StreetTalk. ()

Miroma, the media barter company, has appointed former Publicis regional head Guillaume Lévy-Lambert to its board of directors. Lévy-Lambert left his role as Asia chief executive for Publicis in 2008 after holding the position for more than 10 years. ()

Maxus has hired MCHI's media account director Stephanie Marks for the new role of client services director. Marks will work on the agency's Fiat and Alfa Romeo account, reporting to Maxus joint managing director James Jennings. ()

MPG Media Contacts, the Havas-owned media agency, has promoted Alan Brydon to the role of head of trading. Brydon, the agency's head of press and outdoor, steps up to the new role after the departure of MPG's head of broadcast, Jim McDonald, in December, and the creation of teams who buy across media.
