Bookmakers Ladbrokes now rate Jason's chances of winning at 6/1, after last week being listed as 4/1 second favourite.
A Ladbrokes spokesman suggests that his passionate embrace with Vanessa, which was seen by viewers on last night's show, has affected his chances, saying "being in a couple is the kiss of death on 'Big Brother'".
The bookmaker said last week that the couple factor had also doomed Stuart and Michelle's chances of winning following their romantic liaisons.
Coral, which made Jason joint favourite with Daniel at 3/1, has also reacted to the Scottish bodybuilder's romantic success with Vanessa by slashing his chances of winning to 9/2.
Coral and Ladbrokes have now installed Shell as the favourite ahead of Daniel, giving odds of 3/1 and 10/3 respectively on their chances of winning.
While the couple factor appears to lessen housemates' chances of winning, Shell's improved standing among punters appears to show that exhibitionism may be the secret of success regarding winning 'Big Brother'. Shell's recent escapades have included naked lawn-mowing and cooking in her underwear.
Meanwhile, Jason's star is also appearing to droop among the other housemates. Emma and Michelle, banished to a grotty 'Big Brother' bedsit following last week's mock eviction before being reintroduced this week, selected Jason as the recipient of a bed full of egg and water, following comments he made about the pair.
Smoker Shell also unleashed a tirade of abuse about the Scottish bodybuilder, due to his lack of sympathy over a cigarette drought to hit the house.
Nominations for this week's eviction are due to take place later today. Last week's mock eviction pulled in around 200,000 fewer votes than the first eviction of last year's series.
The favourite to be kicked out is Somalian former asylum seeker Ahmed, who lost it last week smashing plates and sobbing.
