Bookies predict plate smasher Ahmed to avoid 'eviction'

LONDON - Michelle and Emma are now the favourites to be sent into the 'Big Brother' bedsit, where they will get the chance to spy on the remaining housemates before being reintroduced into the house while Ahmed is likely to get the boot for real.

According to Ladbrokes, the previous favourite combination of Ahmed, the third housemate who has been nominated for the fake eviction, and Michelle has slipped from 1/2 to 5/1 among punters.

Ladbrokes spokesman Warren Lush suggests that because the two housemates chosen to live in the grotty, Seventies-style bedsit escape nominations the following week and are therefore guaranteed at least two more weeks in the house, the public is saving their votes for Ahmed to ensure he is booted out in the first proper eviction next Friday.

The combination of Michelle and Emma to enter the bedsit is now 1/4, with Ahmed and Emma at 5/1.

On tonight's show viewers will see Ahmed, who is clearly affected by the recent round of nominations, lose the plot as one of this series' trademark deliberately annoying alarms begins to ring.

The former asylum seeker from Somalia grabs a set of plates and hurls them at the steps of the Jacuzzi in frustration. He then storms off on his own and will be seen on tonight's show in tears over this Friday's eviction.

Lush adds: "We are not taking bets on him to go by his own accord because we see it as hugely odds on."

Latest viewing figures for this week show that it is still regularly attracting more than 4m viewers, although this week has seen a slight drop in the ratings.

While last week's shows averaged 4.6m, compared with 4.5m for the first week of last year's series, this week the figures are slightly down. Monday recorded a disappointing average of 4m, while Tuesday and Wednesday's shows only averaged 4.4m.

A spokeswoman said that Tuesday's 10pm show did manage to gain the highest share at that time, 27.6%, while Wednesday's show recorded a peak audience of 5m.
