The campaign, created by DLKW, will support Marston's Smooth, as the Twenty20 Cup prepares to get under way this week.
WG Grace, nicknamed The Great Cricketer, is credited with pioneering modern batting techniques and is considered by many to be the greatest England cricketer of all time.
Marston's said its campaign was a tribute to WG Grace's ability to make spectators' hair stand on end with his extraordinary cricketing skills over a 44-year career during the Victorian era.
In the animated version, which will be seeded on video-sharing websites such as YouTube, WG Grace is shown taking off his trademark England cap to reveal an anarchic mohican quiff to promote Marston's Smooth.
Peter Jackson, marketing director of Marston's Beer Company, said: "WG Grace is still to this day revered for being the finest fielder in England as well as being behind the development of modern batting.
"His unique passion and earnest commitment to the sport meant his performances commanded a big audience, and he single-handedly transformed the game into a national institution.
"That's why we felt WG's unrivalled reputation as the uncompromising father of modern cricket lent itself perfectly to the dynamic new breed of 20-over cricket that's getting pundits' hearts racing.
Tom Richardson, chief executive of Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, said: "WG Grace was the first 'superstar' of cricket. What a tremendous asset he would be to our Twenty20 team today."
