Npower offers red carpet treatment to cricket fans

LONDON - Npower has launched a showcase competition promotion that includes a major Ashes Test Series prize and ties its longstanding cricket sponsorship in with the national rollout of its "hometeam" service brand.

The energy provider is offering the winner and 11 friends "the red carpet treatment" in a luxury box at next year's Ashes in England for any of the five July and August Test matches in which the home team takes on Australia.

The prize includes a limo ride, food and drink, free cricket memorabilia and the opportunity to meet npower ambassadors such as ex-England captain Mike Gatting as well as the England players themselves.

The "red carpet" promotion, which runs until the end of the year, plays on the idea that npower's hometeam lays down red carpets to avoid damage and mess during service calls. The £1.5 million promotion campaign will be supported by press and radio advertising, online, and on-site activity at all England Test and Twenty20 Cup matches - including help from the "npower girls", the red-skirted brand support reps.

Sue Heritage, npower's brand and sponsorship manager, said: "We just thought this was a really fun way to bring the brand to life and mix the supply side of what we do with the sponsorship side."

The promotion also includes a giveaway of free Ashes "goodies" to anyone who switches to npower. The hometeam rollout is also being supported by a promotion offering free boiler cover for signing a fixed-price contract with npower.
