Jamie Oliver dishes up new cookbook recipes on MySpace

LONDON - TV chef Jamie Oliver has uploaded some of his new recipes on social networking site MySpace as part of his 'Pass it on' campaign.

Users can access an interactive minibook on that features five recipes from his new book -- 'Jamie's Ministry of Food'.

The recipes feature alongside video demonstrations and blogs by Oliver, designed to inspire people to get back in the kitchen.

The 'Jamie's Ministry of Food' book, which accompanies his current Channel 4 TV series, is part of a campaign to get the nation to rediscover the joys of home cooking.

He believes the art of proper cooking has been lost as fewer mums and dads have the time to pass down kitchen skills and recipes to their kids, as happened in previous generations.

Through the concept of 'Pass it on', Oliver hopes that people will try the recipes and then pass them on to their mates, family, co-workers and neighbours who will then pass them on to their friends, and so on.

Oliver said: "The whole ethos behind the 'Ministry of Food' is to make cooking easy, accessible and to pass on what we learn to as many people as possible.

"By giving away some of the key recipes from the book to the community, I'm reaching a potential audience of over 100m people -- hopefully it will inspire everyone to get talking and get cooking."

Dom Cook, head of entertainment at MySpace UK, said: "Millions of our users share content and videos with their friends every day, so MySpace is the perfect partner for the 'Pass it on' campaign.

"By using his MySpace profile, Jamie will be able to seed cooking knowledge to a whole new audience."
