Foodie blog raises £450,000 in funding

LONDON - FoodBuzz, a blog network and social media platform for foodies, has raised $750,000 (拢450,000) in a proposed funding round of $1.25m (拢750,000), according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

The San Francisco-based website, , aggregates posts from about 10,000 food blogs worldwide and receives about 6.7m unique visitors a month. Site advertisers include Quaker and Kikkoman.

The funding round comes despite a competitive market for food blogs, which includes popular websites like Epicurious, Good Bite and Chowhound -- suggesting that the recession is curtailing consumers' need to dine out.

Foodbuzz digs into the "long tail" of food publishing to promote thousands of small food bloggers, pouring through about one million blogs posts every month.
