The ad campaign, which was developed by Walker Media, will run across TV, press, cinema, internet and mobile media this summer to promote 'Dexter''s UK launch on July 10.
In the series, Hall is a forensic detective in Miami who leads a double-life as a serial killer under the alias Patrick Bateman -- the name of the Genesis-admiring psychopath in Brett Easton Ellis' 'American Psycho'. 'Dexter', which has been a hit with US audiences, also features 'CSI' and 'Angel' actress Julie Benz.
Fox International said it had spent a seven-figure sum on the campaign, with the creative work split between FX's in-house creative team and Sheffield-based DEDass.
The TV spots will be supplemented with an MSN campaign, featuring exclusive previews for the show, and a book deal with Orion Publishing, which prints the novels on which the TV series is based. A viral campaign commissioned from Ralph & Co is also planned.
Cecilia Parker, communications director at Fox International, said: "'Dexter' is a fantastic brand statement show for the channel, and given its current performance in the US we felt it deserved the best push we could give it.
"The bulk of the spend will be on Sky channels to raise awareness of what we hope will be our biggest success to date."
The 12-week series will debut at 10pm on July 10.
