'Pushing Daisies' is a Warner Brothers International Television series from the producers behind TV series 'Heroes', and films 'Men In Black' and 'American Beauty'.
Billed as a "forensic fairytale", the drama follows the story of a young pie-maker with the ability to bring the dead back to life through touch. He revives his childhood sweetheart Chuck, played by Friel, but if he ever touches her again, she'll go back to being dead, and this time for good.
ITV has also made deals with CBS Paramount International Television for 'Swingtown' and 'Cane'.
'The OC''s Mike Kelley and 'Six Feet Under''s Alan Poul are executive producers on 'Swingtown', which centres on 1970's suburbia. It stars 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and 'This Life' actor Jack Davenport and 'Deadwood''s Molly Parker as Bruce and Susan Miller, a couple who move their family to an affluent suburb of swingers.
'Cane' stars Jimmy Smits from 'The West Wing' and Nestor Carbonell from 'Lost', and revolves around a large Cuban-American family who run a rum and sugar business in South Florida.
Jay Kandola, ITV's director of acquisitions, said: "These shows are the perfect fit for ITV's family of channels, epitomising a fresh and unique style of programming from some of the most innovative producers and credible stars in American broadcasting."
ITV2 and ITV3 will show repeat screenings of the dramas series.
