Ex-Atomic Kitten favourite to win I'm a Celeb crown

LONDON – Kerry McFadden, former Atomic Kitten member, is the bookies' new favourite to win 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!' and is being backed by former favourite John Lydon, who says he quit because he thought he was going to win the game.

Lydon told the show's presenters Ant and Dec last night that he wanted to give the others a chance and that he was now backing the former pop babe.

Last night's ratings hit a new record for ITV1 as they soared to 11.1m, representing 46.2% of the total audience as the public continues to flock to the show.

McFadden has overtaken Lord Brocket who yesterday launched a foul-mouthed tirade against former BBC royal correspondent Jenny Bond, calling her a "slapper" and "old slag" who was "arrogant" and "dogmatic".

That outburst saw Brocket's chances slide as Ladbrokes slashed McFadden's odds from 2/1 to 4/5.

Warren Lush, a Ladbrokes spokesman, said: "Punters are smitten with the former Atomic Kitten. While her former bandmates have split and their stardom is fading, Kerry is on the up and is odds-on favourite to become the very first Queen of the Jungle. Viewers are attracted by the fact that she appears to be a normal, down-to-earth girl."

He added: "Lord Brocket's fortunes have changed dramatically in the last 24 hours. He was hot favourite to win after John Lydon left but his odds drifted when he revealed his bitchiness and contempt for Jennie Bond. This could prove to be his downfall."

However some think Jordan is still in with a chance but Lush says she will have to do something special to win. Jordan has still to play what many see as her trump card in flashing her breasts.

"John Lydon's departure has made it the most open 'I'm a Celebrity...' yet. But Jordan is no longer a real runner and her odds have lengthened. She is going to have to do something very dramatic to get back into the game," Lush said.
