The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) told a press conference on Friday that it would make purchases for equipment as early as next year.

"Expression of interest will be placed over the next couple of months," said venues and infrastructure James Bulley.

Many facets of the event industry are relying on the Olympics to seriously boost takings over the next few years. The scale of the events should provide a boon to the industry, 200,000 temporary seats, 50,000m of temporary fencing and 220,000sqm of tented accommodation will be required alone.
