The London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) said Dorney Lake's improvements, which include a 2,000-metre, eight-lane rowing lake, return lane and associated competition facilities, will be completed on time.

Dorney Lake includes extensive corporate and private event facilities, and is sure to be more in demand as the Olympics draws closer.

"Dorney is a world-class venue that hosts elite-level competition as well as community events. It is a venue of which we can all be proud," said LOCOG chairman Sebastian Coe.

The enhancement works are expected to be complete by spring 2010.
