Yell appoints Virgin Media exec to lead digital

Directories business Yell has appointed Phillip Snalune as new media development director in the UK.

Snalune, who joins from Virgin Media where he was group strategy director and managing director of its non-cable consumer division, will be responsible for developing commercial opportunities within the digital world.

Leading the development of new commercial models, products, services and platforms, he will report directly to the UK's chief marketing officer, Helen Stevenson.

In 2004, Snalune became a director of product management and marketing when he launched Telewest's video-on-demand, personal video recorder and high-definition TV services, and, in 2006, he led the integration of Telewest and NTL's consumer product teams as managing director of the merged Consumer Products Group.

Yell.com, the division of Yell that can be accessed online and on-mobile, was launched in 1996 and has a database of more than 2 million UK businesses including 208,000 searchable advertisers.
