Yell.com to sponsor Sci Fi's Star Trek

The Sci Fi channel has signed up local search engine, Yell.com, to sponsor its flagship show, Star Trek.

Brokered by Sci Fi brand solutions manager Michael Holt and Laurence Munday, founder of Drum PHD, the seven-month, six- figure sponsorship, begins next Sunday.

It will see Yell.com sponsor mid-morning and early evening screenings of the show, and the supporting micro-site at www.scifiuk.com.

Martin Heaton Cooper, sales director at Sci Fi, said: "This long-term sponsorship deal is a clear indication of the potency of Sci Fi's brand and audience and Star Trek's enduring popularity."

Yell has been a major spender in the digital TV sponsorship arena recently. It signed up a £2m deal with Five to back the broadcaster's US crime dramas, including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and a raft of video on demand (VOD) services around the show.
