Showsec will provide more than 1,000 security staff to the main festival and camp sites during the two-day event on 17-18 August, which this year includes Beyoncé and Kings of Leon.
It is the first time Showsec – which has a client portfolio including Wireless, Hard Rock Calling and Bestival – will work with V Festival.
V Festival production manager Andy Redhead said: "I’m delighted we have appointed Showsec as our security and stewarding supplier for the V Festival in Weston Park. They have proven capability to implement modern festival security consistently with a balance of security and understanding the behaviour of a festival audience."
The festival had previously worked with G4S since its inception in 1996, but awarded the contract to Showsec following a competitive tender process.
A G4S spokesman said: "We’ve been successfully securing this festival for many years and naturally we’re disappointed that we haven’t been awarded the contract this time around. However, as the UK’s leading provider of event security we already have a busy year ahead securing some of the UK’s biggest occasions, including some new wins for G4S."
Last year G4S worked on the London 2012 Olympic Games, but came under fire after it emerged it had failed to recruit and train enough staff promised for the event. The company is estimated to have incurred £70m of losses on the original £284m contract.
Planning is now under way between Showsec and Roseclaim to "ensure the highest service levels are in place" at the V Festival, according to Showsec director Mark Logan.
"Showsec is ecstatic to be working with this iconic festival, which is a key part of UK festival culture," added Logan. "We are already engaged in extensive planning with Roseclaim and Staffordshire Police in agreeing the relevant parameters to ensure the highest service levels are in place to deliver a professional service to the ticket-buying public.
"Operations will remain focused on our priority that all attendees have a safe and enjoyable experience, befitting the overall philosophy of the V Festival production management team Andy Redhead and Liam Boylan."
