Rock & Chips and Dancing on Ice top Sunday night ratings

LONDON - BBC One's 'Only Fools and Horses' prequel, 'Rock & Chips', pulled in 7.4 million viewers last night, but was outdone by ITV1's 'Dancing on Ice', according to unofficial overnight figures.

The extended one-off charting the exploits of a teenage Del Trotter won a 27.8% share of the TV audience between 9pm and 10.30pm.

The comedy beat ITV1's 'Wild At Heart', a drama set in a vet's practice, which drew 6.4 million viewers and a 23% share.

Earlier in the evening, however, ITV1's 'Dancing On Ice', broadcast from 6.30pm to 9pm, attracted 8.2 million viewers and a 30.8% share, beating BBC One's 8pm to 9pm offering, the costume drama 'Lark Rise to Candleford', which drew 6.2 million and a 21.9% share.

In the 9pm slot, BBC Two's new wildlife series 'The Great Rift: Africa's Wild Heart' attracted two million viewers and earned the channel a 7.3% share.

Channel 4's repeat of the movie 'Slumdog Millionaire' from 9pm to 11.30pm registered 1.2 million viewers and 6.6% share across C4 and C4+1.

Five aired the Mel Gibson film 'Payback', a repeat, which brought in 1.1 million viewers.
