Earlier in the day, 4.3 million viewers tuned in to watch British tennis player Andy Murray lose to Roger Federer in straight sets in the final of the Australian Open, equivalent to 41.8% of the audience between 8am and 11.45am.
David Dimbleby's historical documentary 'Seven Ages of Britain' drew an average of 4.2 million viewers between 9pm and 10pm last night, a 15.6% share of the audience.
Channel 4's drama 'Mo', starring Julie Walters as former Labour minister Mo Mowlam, had an average of 3.5 million viewers (including the contribution from Channel 4+1), an 18.6% share of the audience between 9pm and 11.15pm.
Saturday night's biggest audience was claimed by ITV1. 'Harry Hill's TV Burp' attracted 6.6 million viewers or 28.6% of the audience at 7-7.30pm.
It was up against BBC One's 'So You Think You Can Dance', which earned a 20.7% share at 6.30pm to 7.30pm with an audience of 4.8 million.
Later in the evening ITV1 scored 4.6 million and 4.8 million viewers for 'Take Me Out' and 'All Star Mr & Mrs', but 'Casualty' was ever reliable for BBC One with 5.6 million viewers.
On Friday night 'Celebrity Big Brother' closed with 4.1 million viewers across Channel 4 and C4+1, as cage fighter Alex Reid was declared the winner ahead of musician Dane Bowers.
