York joins from Renault Adriatics, where he was marketing director. He first joined Renault in 1998 and has held a number of product marketing roles, including Clio product manager, Megane and Scenic range brand manager and group senior product manager.

Bouvier, who joined the UK business in 2006, is returning to Paris to take up the position of brand director for electric vehicles, in preparation for the launch of its electric cars in 2011.

Renault has seen an alarming fall in UK sales so far this year. Sales of new vehicles in June were down 72% year-on-year, while the marque has suffered a 60% drop in sales over the first six months of 2009.

'I am delighted to return to the UK as marketing director, especially at this time with the youngest product range and even more new products to come from the Mégane Renaultsport 250 to the New Master,' said York.
