Held in the West Walkway, more than 100 press and VIPs attended a special reception to launch the new This is London exhibition.
The exhibition features copies of over 60 illustrations and excerpts from painter and illustrator Miroslav Sasek's 1959 children's book, This is London. They are on public display for the first time in more than 50 years until March 2014.
Guests enjoying champagne, canapés and bowl food with a London twist provided by Walkways event management partner Seasoned Events. On arrival, guests were offered a 'pukka gin cocktail' made using Dry London Gin; canapés included London cured smoked salmon with fresh lime; deep-fried whitebait with fresh lemon and parsley mayonnaise; and boiled egg with soldiers.
Seasoned then served pie, mash & green liquor; luxury fish pie; and bubble and squeak croquette.
Pinstripes and Peonies supplied the flowers.
The high-profile event drew guests from the world of children’s publishing, such as Whitbread Children’s Novel Award winner Judy Allen, illustrator Bridget Stevens-Marzo, as well as Neil Kerber, cartoonist for Private Eye and dignitaries from the City of London.
