The deal, for an undisclosed sum, was announced as the 2013 bi-annual trade event took place at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton.
Diversified’s deal includes the collocated Offshore Survey and Ocean Careers events, which will continue to be organised by the Intelligent Business team, headed up by managing director Versha Carter from offices in Gloucestershire.
Ocean Business attracts more than 4,000 UK and international visitors, and more than 300 exhibitors. It was launched by Intelligent Exhibitions in 2007.
The acquisition also includes LIDAR International and LIDAR Europe events, which focus on the use of remote sensing technology. These will be transferred to Diversified’s offices in Portland, Maine.
Carsten Holm, managing director of Brighton-based Diversified UK, said Intelligent shared its personal approach and attention to detail. "With the same team in place and a shared vision but with the added resources of Diversified, I hope the industry will enjoy working with us as much as it has enjoyed working with Intelligent Exhibitions over the years."
