Having signed the deal in September 2007 and since run an ad campaign in partnership with Apple claiming that there is an app for almost anything, O2 today unveiled a new iPhone app that helps its customers keep track of their accounts.

O2 customers in danger of running up jaw dropping phone bills can now use the My O2 iPhone app to check their accounts around the clock.

The free app combines elements of O2's internet service, including the ability to view how many minutes and texts pay and go and monthly customers have left in their bundle allowance.

Customers can also view their tariff, price plan and bolt ons. In addition, pay monthly customers can view recent charges, view a bill summary, including a last bill date and payment due date.

The operator did create the Festive Kit iPhone app last Christmas, which it claimed could solve some of the biggest festive headaches. The three-pronged app featured virtual sleigh bells, a snow globe and mistletoe - without the jagged edges.

The new My O2 app was created by Mobile Interactive Group.
