'New Tricks' grabs 6.9m viewers for BBC One

LONDON - BBC One's 'New Tricks' continues to reign over Thursday night television, taking pole position in the 9-10pm slot for the fourth week in a row with 6.9m viewers, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The police drama, starring Dennis Waterman, secured a 30.4% share, almost doubling ITV's share of 15.9% and 3.6m viewers for 'The Bill'.

'The Bill' is in its third week in a new once per week hour-long post-watershed slot, a change from its previously outings on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8-9pm.

BBC Two's comedy panel show 'Mock the Week' pulled in a 9.6% share and 2.2m viewers in its 9-9.30 pm slot. At 9.30-10pm the channel dropped to 1.6m viewers and a 7.8% share for 'The Funny Side of TV Talent', hosted by Clive Anderson.

Channel 4's second episode of 'How the Other Half Live' - documenting a wealthy family experiencing the life of one less fortunate and vice versa - attracted 1.9m viewers and a 8.2% share of the ratings. Another 229,000 watched it on Channel 4+1.

Channel Five's US drama, 'The Mentalist', scored a 6.6% share and 1.5m viewers in the same slot.

Channel 4's reality show 'Big Brother' pulled in 2m viewers in the 10-11pm slot, coming in third behind 'BBC News at Ten' with 4.8m and ITV's 'News at Ten' with 2.3m. A further 152,000 tuned in to watch 'Big Brother' on Channel 4+1.
