England football draws 5.6m to ITV1

LONDON - International football was a reliable banker for ITV1 last night as 5.6m tuned in to see England's 2-2 away draw with Holland, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The ratings figure covers ITV1's whole coverage of the friendly match from 7.30pm-11.10pm, which accounted for 26.4% of all viewing in that slot. The audience peaked at 6.8m and a share of 33.2% in the first half.

The football also garnered the biggest audience in the 9pm-10pm slot, when it was up against Kim Cattrall's appearance on BBC One's family history show 'Who Do You Think You Are?'.

The show's audience built as the football action ended, giving BBC One 5.9m viewers and a 25.3% share.

'Dragon's Den' on BBC Two mopped up 2.7m viewers and an 11.5% share, some way ahead of 'Big Brother', which got 1.8m viewers and a 7.7% share.

Five lagged with 8pm-10.05pm movie 'It Could Happen To You', which brought in just 717,000 viewers and a share of 3.2%.
