Nectar launches virtual fashion high street

Nectar is launching a fashion site with its retail partners to compete directly with the likes of Asos.

The site is launching with 30 retail partners including Debenhams, House of Fraser, Ted Baker and Gap.

It marks the first time a site has brought together all of Nectar's partners in a retail hub.

The website will launch on 23 May and is aimed at being a one-stop shop for high-street fashion brands, and will offer consumers loyalty points.

James Frost, marketing director at Nectar, said: "Our new fashion site delivers an extended online product range and shows our commitment to offering collectors more ways to collect points.

"The Nectar fashion site has been designed to enhance the collector experience, and cardholders will now have the opportunity to shop online for fashion in a more time-efficient and enjoyable way.

"Our research shows that collectors are buying almost 50% of their fashion online with an average expenditure of more than £70 each per month, so we know there is a definite appetite in this area."

The site will have 500,000 items in stock, and a "Your Wardrobe" feature, similar to that offered by Asos Fashion Finder.

The launch will be supported by online animated banner ads produced by Bristol-based Studio Six. Ads break on 27 May and run until 10 July, and there will be a video demonstration of the site at .

Several fashion sites have launched this year, including StyleCompare, and new initiatives by BrandAlley and Asos.

British Gas replaced EDF as the Nectar energy partner earlier this year, and has launched in-store energy centres in Sainsbury's.

Nectar customers can now redeem points against EasyJet flights.
