Ritson will join Karen Millen in July from online fashion brand All Saints, where she spent the past year as ecommerce director. Before that, she held board-level roles at brands including CoutureLab, Space NK and Bertelsmann.

At Karen Millen she will develop the brand's website proposition, helping it extend its global reach and build market share.

Karen Millen has a retail presence in 331 locations across 41 countries, and last year grew online international sales by 81%.

The website currently trades in the UK and US, but fulfils online orders to 19 other countries. It plans to launch two more country sites in Germany and Australia by the end of 2011.

Gemma Metheringham, Karen Millen's joint managing director, said: "We see tremendous opportunity to grow our e-commerce business internationally to support our overall expansion strategy.

"With her digital and brand innovation credentials, Lynn will be invaluable in delivering our distinct brand personality in the online environment."

Karen Millen was founded in 1981. Its global business incorporates owned business and franchises. It has sales of more than £250m a year. In March, it became independent of previous owner Aurora Fashions Group.
