MySpace slashes 400 staff as popularity falls

LONDON - MySpace has announced plans to cut about 30% of its US workforce, which accounts to around 400 people.

Owen Van Natta, chief executive of the News Corp-owned company, said that the business had become 'bloated'.

The website suffered an 18% fall in unique users over the year to April 2009 as its members switched to Facebook and Twitter. Its monthly unique users fell from 8.5m to 7m in April this year.
