Plans are still in discussion and the BOA and Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC) hope to reach a licensing agreement for the museum in the next few weeks.
The British Olympic Museum would open in 2014 and be situated near the park entrance and South Plaza, next to the ArcelorMittal Orbit sculpture.
Although details are not yet finalised, the OPLC told Event it anticipated the museum would hold events. It would offer an interactive experience around the Olympic Games and values through stories and memorabilia, showcasing London’s history of hosting the Games in 1908 and 1948 as well as this year.
The BOA is working to raise funds from Olympic partners and individual donors to support the museum.
Baroness Ford, chair of the OLPC, said: "The Olympic Museum will be a wonderful attraction on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, bringing historical, educational and cultural interest for families to enjoy and leaving a lasting association with the London 2012 Games. Legacy plans are more advanced than any previous Olympic host city and an Olympic museum will be yet another great asset for people to enjoy on the Park."
The BOA is the national Olympic committee for Great Britain and Northern Ireland and aims to promote Olympic values and the success of Team GB.
