The London Legacy Development Corporation announced the plans this morning (5 Sept).

The first festival will be held in the October 2013, and successive events are expected to grow year-on-year.

Details are still being finalised with boroughs near the park in east London, but the festival will build on the Time To Shine project, which aims to increase disabled people’s participation in sports and cultural activities.

The legacy plans also include new employment opportunities for disabled people in the park, the creation of accessible homes and provisions for a range of sports including wheelchair rugby, boccia, wheelchair basketball and goalball.
