The dinner, taking place on Mandela's birthday on 18 July, will see London-based caterer Moving Venue providing services to more than 700 people. The evening will celebrate the life and legacy of the former president of South Africa and is set to attract an influential list of celebrities, politicians and corporate supporters.

Earlier this month, Roundhouse announced

A Champagne reception will set the tone for the celebrations and will be followed by a three-course dinner created by Moving Venue’s chefs. The menu will be designed around a South African theme, inspired by seasonal ingredients largely sourced from the country.

A charity auction followed by special performances from guests including Heather Small and Beverley Knight will bring the evening to a close.

The gala dinner was inspired by a House of Commons tribute book of messages started by noted entrepreneur Nic Careem. The book, built up over ten years, now contains more than 700 handwritten messages from world famous celebrities, business leaders and politicians, with a final sign off from Barack Obama.

Richard Beggs, Moving Venue’s managing director, said: "We are delighted to be involved in such an exciting project which will remember an exceptional man whilst also raising funds to continue his legacy. We are looking forward to creating some amazing dishes and contributing to what is set to be a truly memorable evening."

Nic Careem, director of the Blue Sky Network, added: "We chose Moving Venue to work with as they have a longstanding reputation for flare and quality and are used to working on high-profile events. They also understood the objectives behind the event and are on board as a long-term partner."
