The new standalone company, London 2012 Ceremonies Limited, will operate in association with environmental consultancy Arcadis and will have a £40m budget to organise all four events.
As widely reported in the news, it will be ‘overseen' by a team of British directors and producers including Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle and Billy Elliot director Stephen Daldry.
"The appointment of FiveCurrents and Unspun follows an exhaustive procurement process to find a delivery partner able to provide production services for these extraordinary and complex events," said a statement issued by Locog.
"They [FiveCurrents and Unspun] will establish the company and oversee its financial, administrative and procurement processes. Working alongside the Locog appointed executive producers and artistic directors to realise four innovative and visionary world class ceremonies."
The firms have already started the process of establishing the joint firm, registering 'London 2012 Ceremonies Limited' on Companies House last Wednesday (9 June).
FiveCurrents has a wealth of experience in Olympic ceremonies, having worked on the Beijing 2008, Atlanta 2006 and Athens 2004 Games, while Unspun was behind London's bid to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
East London's centre for the creative industries, 3 Mills Studios, will be used as the production centre for the London 2012 Ceremonies Team, and a base from where the Victory Ceremonies and Torch Relays will be produced.
