In the tendering process, Kudos was specifically commended for its food credentials and commercial awareness.

The museum will open in 2012 and be home to more than 140,000 football objects, works of art and photographs, including the 1966 World Cup Final ball.

It was formerly in Preston but will relocate to the Urbis building in Manchester.

Kudos managing director Jon Pryce said: "As soon as we saw the brief for the museum, we knew that our food and commercial know-how would be well-received. Contracts like this don’t come around that often so we are really pleased to be chosen as partners to the museum and can’t wait to get started."
