ITV1 leads Tuesday night ratings with 3.8m viewers

LONDON - ITV1 comfortably beat BBC One and Five in last night's crime programming-heavy 9-10pm slot, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The second episode of six-part Sir Trevor MacDonald-fronted documentary series 'Car Crime UK' brought in 3.8m viewers, a 17.4% share, improving on last week's 3.2m viewers.

Next best was the similarly themed BBC One documentary 'The Truth About Crime', which brought in 2.8m viewers and a 12.6% share.

Five's crime reconstruction drama was close behind on 2.7m viewers, giving the channel a 12.3% share, well ahead of day 55 from the 'Big Brother' house.

The housemates attracted 2.1m viewers and a 9.7% share, with another 337,000 viewers tuning in on Channel 4+1.

BBC Two's period drama about the pre-Raphaelite brotherhood of artists, 'Desperate Romantics', swung into its second episode with 2m viewers and a 9.1% share; this was down 500,000 on its first week when it gathered a 10.9% share.
