Google brings rich media ads to smartphones

LOND0N - Brands will be able to offer run larger, more impressive ad campaigns on handsets using Google AdSense, thanks to the search giant updating its technology for mobile ads.

New features offer brands the chance to run larger AdSense ads visible on high-end phones. Prior to the move, AdSense mobile publishers were only eligible to serve smaller text and image ads on their website content.

The changes will apply to high-end mobile phones with full (HTML) internet browsers, such as the iPhone and phones running Android.

The changes are based on a JavaScript snippet specifically optimised for mobile that will reduce cases of ad campaigns being present but not appearing on high-end mobile phones.

Google said the new technology will also allow publishers to select additional ad unit sizes from common AdSense formats.

The move comes just days after Apple announced that two new networks in the UK - Orange and Vodafone  - will be offering the iPhone, .
