Until now Foursquare has only been available in the US and Amsterdam but from this week the highly anticipated mobile app will be available to Londoners.

Foursquare is both a location-based social network and a nightlife game that allows users generate points for being the first to visit a new place, going out every night of the week, or for reviewing new clubs and restaurants.

From within the app, you can update your location, send ‘shouts' to your friends, track your Foursquare 'achievements' and keep a ‘to-do list' you can share with other users.

Foursquare lets you play by ‘checking in' at various locations when you're out and about, and in doing so turns the mobile app into a city guide, loyalty store card and social connector.

The app is already proving highly popular in the US and Foursquare recently announced its has raised an extra $1.35 million in funding to help it expanding into new marketing including Paris.
