The 2012 UK Events Market Trends Survey (UKEMTS) aims to provide insight into the industry from a supplier or venues perspective by asking them to provide details on their business.
It is being sponsored by DRP Group, Accor Hotels, Conference Centres of Excellence, Event Assured, and Glasgow City Marketing Bureau.
Part two of the research will start later in the year and will comprise the first-ever UK Economic Impact Survey (UKEIS) using the United Nations methodology for measuring the economic significance and characteristics of the business events and meetings sector.
The results from UKEMTS are due to be revealed in summer, with UKEIS being published in late 2012 or early 2013.
The association said the data from the two studies will provide the "most robust assessment ever" of the UK’s business events and meetings sector.
Dale Parmenter, managing director of DRP Group, said: "In a dynamic industry like events, the need for, and importance of, quality research cannot be overemphasised. It is vital that businesses keep abreast of new developments, issues and opportunities, and feedback from event venues is an integral part of such market monitoring."
The UKEMTS 2012 questionnaire can be and will remain open until 30 March.
Eventia has been carrying out research of this kind annually since 1993.
