Turner's keynote speech will open the conference at King’s Place in London.

Simon Hughes, leader of Summer Eventia's design team, said: "We passed on having an economic outlook keynote in Cardiff last year, but the feedback from our members certainly indicated that there was a real appetite out there for some insightful and expert economic advice as we face another challenging year."

Turner joined Midland Bank, later bought by HSBC, in 1978. As chief economist he advised bankers on trends within industry sectors and at a national level. He was one of a handful of private sector economists who advised the pre-Blair Labour Party.
