Energy company E.ON brings virtual band Gorillaz to the desert for a music video powered by the sun.
The trippy film includes more than 1,000 dancing toys, giant tanks of illuminating squid, flashing UFOs and hundreds of light installations, set to the track We Got the Power from the new Gorillaz album Humanz. The campaign by Engine promotes E.ON’s solar and battery storage technology, which will be demonstrated by the E.ON Kong Solar Studio at the Demon Dayz Festival in Margate on 10 June. Powered by solar PV panels, Gorillaz’ Kong Studios 2.0 will provide aspiring music artists the opportunity to create new tracks. The studio will then follow the band at selected gigs on Gorillaz’ world tour. The work was created by Chris Lapham and Aaron McGurk at Engine, and directed by Noah Harris through Blinkink.
