A young Dwyane Wade carries a basketball like a shield for Gatorade

TBWA\Chiat\Day LA's biographical spot pulls no punches

Dwyane Wade’s childhood on the South Side of Chicago was tough—drug addicted mother, gang violence. Basketball gave him both an outlet and a distraction. So when Wade chose to leave the Miami Heat this year to play for the Chicago Bulls, his homecoming was poignant. A new 90-second spot for Gatorade from TBWA\Chiat\Day LA features a young Wade reliving those rough times in 1992. Viewers are also directed to Wade’s youth-focused non-profit SpotlightOn.
