World Cup third place play-off earns ITV1 5.5m

ITV1's coverage of Germany's 3-2 victory over Uruguay on Saturday pulled in an average audience of 5.5 million between 7pm and 9.30pm and a 28.7% share, according to unofficial overnight figures.

‘James Corden’s World Cup Live’ followed on until 10pm and was watched by 2.4 million people and a 12.6% share of the total TV-watching audience at that time.

BBC One’s stand-up comedy show, recorded at the Hammersmith Apollo and called, ‘Live at The Apollo’, attracted 3.7 million viewers between 9.15pm and 10pm, taking a 18.6% audience share.

Channel 4’s ‘Big Brother’ was seen by 1.7 million and an 8.5% share. Including the Channel 4 + 1 audience, the show was seen by 2.022 million people.

Channel Five’s offering of 'NCIS' was watched by an average of 850,000 viewers between 8.15pm and 9.15pm, a 4.2% share. 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' followed on until 10pm and 1.35 million people tuned in, making a 6.8% share.

BBC Two’s ‘Placido Domingo in Simon Boccanegra’, which featured the opera singer making his Covent Garden debut at The Royal Opera House, was watched by just 486,000 people.
