The content deal, which was finalised between publisher HarperCollins and Waterstone's customer magazine publisher Seven Squared, will aim to increase integration between the retailer's web and print output and drive traffic to its homepage.

Waterstone's said the first video to feature on the site will feature Hari Kunzru, author of 'The Impressionists', interviewing JG Ballard, author of 'Empire of The Sun' and 'Cocaine Nights', about his forthcoming novel, 'Miracles of Life'.

The video interview, available from January 24, will also be flagged in the forthcoming issue of Books Quarterly, and contain web links to JG Ballard's author page on the Waterstone's website.
