Called Vodafone 360, the service will replace Vodafone Live, which has been in operation for seven years.
Vodafone 360 will integrate Facebook and Twitter, as well as providing a range of apps which will be available globally. It will initially be available on Samsung handsets.
The company believes this approach will strengthen links with customers, who currently access apps through handset makers and third-party providers.
Software company Zyb, which Vodafone purchased last year for £28.5m, has created a social networking service called Vodafone People, which will form a central part of the Vodafone 360 service. It will let users share information with their mobile contacts.
The news comes just days after Vodafone chief executive Vittorio Colao announced the company is embarking on a major rebranding exercise, dropping its ‘Make the most of now' tagline in favour of ‘Power to you'. The new line will start appearing in advertising in the next six weeks.
Colao said the aim is to put Vodafone at the forefront of the consumer switch to Smartphones. He said: "It's not the brand talking anymore and telling the consumer what to do. It is the customer who will decide."
