
Starting today, Heywood will take responsibility for Virgin Mobile's handset range and relationships with distributors. He will report to Graeme Oxby, executive director of mobile and home phone at Virgin Media.
Oxby said: "As we take content across screens, offer great value and innovation across our services and continue to bring the benefits of mobile from Virgin Media to life, Jamie will be a strong addition to the team."
Heywood spent a number of months as a consultant after leaving his role as deputy CEO for Virgin Mobile in India last year.
He helped launch the company in India, and in a previous role as chief executive of Virgin Mobile in China, secured the country's first ever virtual network operator contract.
