As part of the scheme, Unilever said it will launch laundry products that are more compact and concentrated.
The company drew on the launch of its Small and Mighty Persil product, which it says uses up to 60% less packaging that dilute liquids.
The company is planning an online push to provide environmental information to consumers.
Kevin Weed, Unilever's executive vice president homecare and hygiene said: ‘If all Unilever consumers currently using conventional detergent powder switched to compacted power and those using liquid detergent switched to Small & Mighty concentrate, every wash would use up to 41gms and 16gms less CO2, respectively.'
